Since July 2000, President/CEO Leon Negen and staff and volunteers of Hope Ministries have served more than 1 million “plates of hope” to guests hungry for spiritual and physical nourishment.

Dear Friends,
Math was never my favorite subject, but I do have a favorite equation that applies to nearly every situation I can think of. It’s the principle of spiritual multiplication, and it goes like this: Little is much when God is involved.
I’m reminded of it every time I serve a meal to a hungry person, acting on Jesus’ example of meeting people first at their point of physical need. While a plate of food relieves an immediate yearning, it also represents Hope Ministries’ pledge to address the roots of that emptiness—homelessness, unemployment, addiction or depression—by guiding hungry souls to trust in Him. When offered in God’s name and with His blessing, a single plate of food symbolizes the beginning of a new and joyous life in Christ.
In July, we celebrated serving our one-millionth meal since July 2000 when Bethel Mission and Door of Faith united as Hope Ministries. I feel privileged God has given me the opportunity to help alleviate hunger in central Iowa, and I’m sure you feel blessed to be His partner, too. Because, as the principle of spiritual multiplication also suggests, when we feed others, we too are fed.
Your Partner in Ministry,

Leon Negen
President/CEO
