Every person who comes to Hope Ministries is experiencing darkness in one form or another—guilt, loneliness, self-loathing, despair. And they long for a new beginning. But many are unaware it’s even possible. You see, they don’t know Jesus Christ . . . or they shut Him out of their hearts a long time ago.
That’s why there isn’t a more meaningful message for our residents and homeless guests than the one we share at Easter—and do our best to demonstrate all year long:
Through Christ’s death and resurrection, they are forgiven . . . they will never be alone . . . and with His power, their lives can be victorious.
If you asked our residents to choose one word that sums up everything we do here at Hope Ministries, they might, in fact, say "resurrection." Because the purpose of all of our programs and services is to restore lives to their full potential.
For people like Tom, that means overcoming addictions and destructive behaviors and becoming a productive member of society. Tom enrolled in our Journey of Hope recovery program, and is learning to be accountable and responsible for his actions.
Yet for other homeless and near-homeless men, women and children, resurrection may be found through assistance with the daily necessities of life. Rosario came to our area to build a better life for her children. But her lack of job skills made it difficult to find work and afford adequate food and a permanent home. So she and her youngsters came to our Hope Family Center. In this safe and accepting environment, the children are thriving. And we’re helping Rosario develop the skills she needs to find a good job and care for her children on her own.
While Christ’s grace is the source of each life transformation here at Hope Ministries, financial support from our community provides the tools for permanent change:
nutritious food, safe shelter and clean clothing . . . biblical education, counseling
and fellowship . . . practical training in marketable job skills and more—all
creating opportunities for our guests and residents to rebuild stable, independent
and purpose-driven lives.
Your gift today—of whatever amount you feel called to share—will help others who desperately need life’s basic necessities, long-term recovery programs and opportunities to experience the power of His love and forgiveness. Thank you for helping Hope Ministries address poverty and despair here in central Iowa.
On Easter Sunday, our Hope Café will be overflowing with men, women and families
in need of a good meal and warm fellowship.
