Introducing
Hope Ministries is partnering with the Downtown Farmers Market in Des Moines and First Federal Savings Bank to give farmers market vendors and visitors a chance to give back to the community!
Through Meals from the Market, community members can help provide fresh food to the homeless and hungry in central Iowa by donating fruits and veggies during the farmers market each Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The opportunity is great for both vendors who often end up with excess produce each week and for market visitors who wish to make a difference in a simple and convenient way.
The Meals from the Market booth is located on 2nd Avenue, just north of Court Avenue, at the weekly farmers market. There, bank employees will collect donations of produce, and Hope Ministries staff members will be available to answer questions about Hope Ministries.
Market vendors, patrons and the entire community are invited to help with this effort. Food and monetary donations of any size will be accepted and appreciated. Because donations are going to Hope Ministries, they are tax deductible. Receipts will be available upon request. Acceptable food donations include: produce, eggs, baked goods, canned goods, and prepared food – nearly everything you will find at the Market. Home gardeners and bakers who find themselves with extra are also encouraged to donate.
On behalf of the men, women and children served by Hope Ministries, we thank both the Downtown Farmers Market and First Federal Savings Bank for making Meals from the Market possible!
