Join Hope Ministries, Hy-Vee and KCCI as we help homeless and hungry men, women and children through our ninth annual Scan Away Hunger!  In the past nine years, Scan Away Hunger has raised over $397,660 as thousands of community members joined together to “fill a plate with hope.”

scanScan Away Hunger 2011 begins the day after Thanksgiving – Friday, November 25 – and runs through Christmas Day. Scan Away Hunger plates will be available at participating metro Hy-Vee stores. You can also order a supply of plates for your family, church, small group, business, etc., online. Plates ordered online will be delivered or mailed during the week of Thanksgiving.

Click here to complete our online plate order form for your church/business/group!

Then, just take your plate to Hy-Vee (or pick one up at the store!) and say, “I’d like to fill a plate with hope.” Each time your checker scans the code on your Scan Away Hunger plate, $2.80 is added to your bill to feed and care for homeless and hungry people at Hope Ministries.

All funds received through Scan Away Hunger will be used to help feed and care for homeless and hungry men, women and children in Des Moines and central Iowa throughout the year. In 2010, this holiday outreach generated over $79,000!

Andy“For hundreds of homeless and near-homeless individuals and families in our community, hope begins with a meal. That’s why I’m pleased to be a part of this year’s Scan Away Hunger effort to provide food and care for the men, women and children served by Hope Ministries. Join me and KCCI NewsChannel 8 as we ‘fill a plate with hope’ this holiday season!”
