Step by step instructions on how to create your personal fundraising Web page.

This process is really pretty easy! So if you don’t have a lot of Internet experience, don’t worry. These steps will guide you through the process. If you still have trouble, please feel free to call Hope Ministries at (515) 265-7272.

1. Click here for our main fundraising page and then click “Registration and/or Personal Fundraising Web page” in the navigation bar on the left.

2. Fill in your first name, last name and email address. Then, create a username and password. You will use this username and password when you log-in to your personal fundraising Web page in the future. Also, make sure you don’t check the “Participant Only” box. If you do, you will only be allowed to register for the event and will not be able to make a Web page.

Also, if you are planning to join an already existing team—perhaps one through your church or business—find your team in the list of Team Options. When you do this, your team’s name will show up on your personal fundraising Web page.

3. Click on “I Accept” underneath the Legal Disclaimer.

4. Fill out the registration form. Make sure to fill out every item marked with an asterisk.

5. Review your registration information and click “Complete Registration.”

6. Now it’s time to create your page! You’ll notice three steps where you can read more about how to create your page. Feel free to do so. Or, if you’re ready to get started right away, click on “Ready to Start? Click here!” at the bottom of the page.

7. Okay, you can now modify a number of components on your personal fundraising Web page! The pieces you can modify include:

a. Your page title. Your page title will automatically be set to your first and last name. If you’d like to change the title of your page, just scroll over the title and a pop-up box will appear that say, “Edit Page Title.” Click that box and fill in your new title.

b. Your goal. At the top you’ll see that the default goal amount is $1.00. Well, we certainly hope you’ll set a goal a higher than that! Consider setting a goal of at least $200. All those who raise $200 or more will receive a free T-shirt on the day of the Walk. To change this amount, scroll over “My goal is to raise $1.00” and a pop-up will appear that says, “Edit Fundraising Goal.” Click that box and fill in your goal.

c. Photo. The photo on the left side of the page is set to default to a photo of last year’s walk-a-thon. If you’d like to place your own photo there, go ahead. Just scroll over the photo, click on the pop-up and browse for your photo. Note: Photos need to be 2 MB or smaller.

d. Fundraiser Story. We’ve written a default fundraiser story that will initially appear at the top-center of your page. If you’d like to keep that story, great! But if you’d rather write your own, you are welcome to. Perhaps you have a personal connection to Hope Ministries … or a special reason why you’ve chosen to participate in our walk-a-thon. If you’d like to add in your own story, just scroll over the story and click on the box that pops up. You can also play around with fonts, colors and even add in additional photos. Feel free to make the page your own!

e. Thermometer. A thermometer will appear by default on your page. But if you’d like to switch up the look of the thermometer graphic, just scroll over the graphic and click the pop-up. Then you can see what other thermometer images are available.

f. Donation Summary. At the bottom of your page is a donation list which is where the names and amounts of all your sponsors will appear. You have the ability to control how much information shows there. Just scroll over the list and click on the pop-up. You can choose whether to show your sponsor names only or amounts only or both.

8. At anytime while you are modifying your page, you can click on “Preview” at the top of the page to see what your page will look like to visitors.

9. You’re almost done! Now all you need to do is spread the word about your page. See that URL address up at the top of your page? (Right beside the Preview button) That’s the address you’ll want to give to family members and friends whom you’d like to invite to sponsor you at the Walk. We suggest posting it on Facebook or Twitter, emailing it to friends and inviting people to bookmark your page. The more you can spread the word about your page, the better!
