Providing The Tools For Lasting Change

Hope Ministries’ Journey of Hope recovery program offers a man the opportunity to take a “time-out” for 8 to 12 months to focus on getting back on track and once again becoming a productive member of society.

After completing the S.T.E.P. program at our Bethel Mission facility, participants are given the privilege to continue their healing at our Door of Faith facility – a long-term recovery center.

The Door of Faith is a 102-bed facility at 6701 SW 9th Street in Des Moines.  Members of the staff minister to homeless men through a program of tough love, sobriety, accountability and responsibility.

Men who complete the STEP program of our Journey of Hope are transferred from Bethel Mission to our Door of Faith recovery center.  Upon entering this phase of our continuum of care they are given the option of two program paths.

  1. S.T.A.R. Spiritual Training and Recovery) program
  2. Men’s Residence

S.T.A.R.

The S.T.A.R. (Spiritual Training And Recovery) program offers sixteen to twenty classes over a period of eight to twelve months. 

Each man works with the STAR director to establish a plan for healing and independence. On the spiritual side, the Door provides ample opportunity for men to experience the healing power of Christ through group Bible studies and personal reflection. Men’s Residence
Men’s Residents are for men who are working or seeking work and who need some structure and ongoing support.  And since gainful employment is so important to a man's recovery in this phase, the Door staff actively manages relationships between employers and residents. Employers are screened and pre-certified, and job placement is an important part of a man's individual recovery plan. CLICK HERE for expanded information about our MEN’S RESIDENCE program.

Learning Center
The Door of Faith learning center is a state of the art classroom equipped with a computer lab and where our life-skill, spiritual and recovery classes are taught.
