KING’S CLOSET
A Year-round Community Outreach of Hope Ministries
Purpose
The purpose of King’s Closet is to serve God by ministering to the material needs of the impoverished in Des Moines and central Iowa and to extend our outreach to area agencies and churches serving the disadvantaged.
Definition
King's Closet is not a facility, but a year-round outreach PROGRAM sponsored by Hope Ministries, administered through our Hope Bargain Center, providing free clothing to individuals and families.
FREE Clothing Vouchers
Vouchers for free clothing are made available to Hope Ministries’ shelter residents at the following facilities:
- Bethel Mission – emergency shelter for homeless men
- Door of Faith men’s recovery center
- Hope Family Center
- Hope Aftercare
King’s Closet Voucher Redemption Locations
People with authorized King’s Closet vouchers can redeem their vouchers at the following locations.
- Bethel Mission, 1310 6th Avenue (clothing for men only – residency not required)
- Hope Bargain Center, 4950 NE 12th Ave, Pleasant Hill, 12pm-5pm Wednesdays only
- Call (515) 265-7272 for voucher application appointments
King’s Closet Authorized Agencies
Hope Ministries’ has extended the courtesy of using our vouchers for FREE clothing to area agencies who serve low-income and impoverished residents. Service agencies must be invited and authorized by Hope Ministries for participation and voucher referral.

An Outreach Resource for Churches
We invite churches to use our King’s Closet voucher program as a resource to help meet the needs of hurting people in their congregations and as an outreach to those in need in their neighborhood.
