We Love Being Involved

The Janzen family hadn’t been in Des Moines long when David Janzen saw an ad about Hope Ministries on television. “I had a passion to get into a homeless ministry, so I showed up at their door and asked if I could volunteer,” David says of his initiation into Hope Ministries back in 2000.

David began helping serve lunch at our Bethel Mission facility a couple times a week, then decided to become a financial partner in our ministry. Soon he and his wife joined our Bread of Life monthly giving partners. “It’s a convenient way to give because it is automatically deducted every month,” he explains.

David’s family donates to Hope Ministries because, he says, “There’s an old saying that every year you write a book about your life … it’s called your checkbook. Your money shows where your heart is. At Hope Ministries, they put their arms around the homeless—the people who’ve fallen through the cracks. That’s why we love being involved.”
