I Believe I Can Do Anything
... I See a Light!

"I continued to drink and smoke—I wasn't doing what I had to do," Angela shares. "I was lost. It was a lot of my own choices that brought me here . . . to the darkest point in my life."

Angela longed to be a good mother, but she'd made so many mistakes, she didn't know where to begin. Angela knew if she could just get her life together, she could build a bright future for her kids. "When I heard about Hope Family Center—that they have programs that could help me and help my children—I realized it would be a good fit for us."

One of the first things Angela shared with us was her desire to know Jesus. "I always knew there was a God, but I never practiced what I preached," she said. We welcomed her into our HEART Recovery Program and guided her in strengthening her walk with the Lord, the most important step in overcoming her addiction. She's also been successful in her classes on relapse prevention, setting boundaries, anger management and parenting.

"It makes me feel awesome," she ways. "In my old life, all I ever accomplished was alcohol and drugs. Now I'm getting closer to the person God wants me to be. I believe I can do anything . . . I see a light!"

Her children are seeing the new light in her life, too. "I've learned not to take things so seriously and have more patience and understanding. And through the children's care plan, they are learning to appreciate me more, too. They tell me I'm a good mom. I love them so much."

This restored family is looking forward to celebrating their growing bond during our Christmas activities here at Hope Ministries. On Christmas Eve, the women, mothers and children in our Hope Family Center will have gifts waiting for them outside their doors when they get up on Christmas morning.

The men at our Door of Faith recovery center and Bethel Mission emergency shelter won't be forgotten either. They'll have gift bags filled with simple necessities to brighten their day. We'll also deliver single-serving meals to the elderly and homebound on Christmas Day. In all, we anticipate serving more than 1,500 holiday meals to hungry men, women and children.

"I'd like to thank Hope Ministries' donors for making this possible," Angela says. "God got His people together in this place and they flip us inside out. Through Hope Ministries I learned I can change and God loves me and forgives me for my past. I can do this!"

You can be a shining star for people like Angela and her children who have lived in the darkness of poverty and despair far too long—and are now under our loving care. Your donation today, of any amount, will bring light to their lives this holiday season and all through the year. Bless you.
