Opportunities for Church Confirmation Classes

Day of Compassion

Join us for a “Day of Compassion” specifically designed for confirmation students!

A Hope Ministries staff person will guide your group through an educational orientation on the many facets of homelessness and the very intentional ministry to men, women and children that Hope Ministries offers to those who are hurting, homeless and in need of hope. Your group will also share a meal with the homeless community at our Hope Café and tour our Bethel Mission facility, which is our emergency men’s shelter, hear resident testimonies and possibly tour our Door of Faith facility (our long-term recovery facility).

We hope to offer an experience for your students to increase their awareness of the suffering of others and learn of opportunities to put their faith into action! To prepare for this day, we have created a curriculum called Case for Compassion. We encourage you to go through the curriculum with your students prior to participating in the “Day of Compassion”. Click to view or print the Case for Compassion.

Sample Schedules (11am-1pm or 4-6pm):

11:00 am Orientation on homelessness and Hope Ministries
Noon Eat with the community
12:30 pm Tour Bethel Mission Facility
4:00 pm Orientation on homelessness and Hope Ministries
5:00 pm Eat with the community
5:30 pm Tour Bethel Mission Facility

We will assign your group an in-kind item to collect and bring with you as a donation to the ministry!

Can’t fit a “Day of Compassion” into your schedule?

Think about doing a donation drive and inviting a guest speaker from Hope Ministries to come to your confirmation class! We would love to do an orientation with your class at your church!

For confirmation mentors/sponsors

Do you require volunteer/service hours with a mentor/sponsor as part of your confirmation program? Call us for opportunities! (i.e. Meal serving at our Hope Café, a work project at our Hope Bargain Center, participating in our annual Walk A Mile in Their Shoes walk-a-thon)
