Current Needs

We are grateful for the many ways our community partners with us in tending to the needs of the homeless and hungry.

Thank you for helping where you can. Please bring your donation of current needs to our Hope Outreach Center located at 4950 NE 12th Ave. in Pleasant Hill. Please label your bag or box CURRENT NEEDS DONATION. Your donation will then be re-distributed to our shelter and recovery centers by our staff and volunteers as needed. We invite you to e-mail us with questions at info@hopeiowa.org or call us at (515) 265-7272.

We also appreciate when groups collaborate to help us through donation drives for items like those listed below. If you plan to organize a donation drive, please contact us so we can assist in accurate promotion of our ministry to the general public. Send an e-mail to info@hopeiowa.org or call (515) 265-7272 and indicate that your group would like to organize a donation drive for one of the items listed below.

Other Current Needs

Current Volunteer Needs: We are currently looking for volunteers to fill two specific roles within our ministry. We would highly appreciate a volunteer who could help pick up food donations for our Hope Café. Click here for a volunteer description for a food donation driver. We are also in need of additional volunteers in our administrative officer. You can read about that volunteer opportunity here. For more information on either of these opportunities, feel free to contact our volunteer coordinator at (515) 265-7272 or info@hopeiowa.org. Thanks!

Bible donations: Hope Ministries has a need for Bibles for men in recovery at our Bethel Mission facility. We would greatly appreciate donations of Bibles. NIV translation preferred. Large-print Bibles are also helpful. You can donate Bibles by dropping them off at our Bethel Mission facility at 1310 6th Avenue in Des Moines. Or, contact us at (515) 265-7272 or info@hopeiowa.org. Thank you!

Computer donations: Hope Ministries currently has a need for PC's (personal computers) with Pentium 4 and above processors. If you have a computer to donate, please call (515) 265-7272. Thank you so much!

Your donation of clothing helps the homeless! Did you know that Hope Ministries accepts donations of clothing of any kind throughout the year? In addition to providing clothing free to those in need through our King’s Closet program and selling low-cost clothing in our Hope Bargain Center. We also bale excess clothing—much of which is then sent to developing countries. So no matter what happens to your shirts, pants, jackets, shoes, etc., once you donate them to Hope Ministries, you can know you’re making a difference!!

That said, we invite you to donate clothing to our ministry! Or, perhaps you’d consider coordinating a clothing drive for your church, business or organization. If this is something you’re interested in, we welcome you to give us a call at (515) 265-7272 or e-mail info@hopeiowa.org.

Clothing donations can be dropped off at our Hope Bargain and Community Outreach Center at 4950 NE 12th Avenue in Pleasant Hill.

Donation Pick-Up Ministry.  We are looking for individuals or groups that would be willing to assist and/ or pick up donations on Tuesday afternoons starting at 3:30 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m.- noon.

Personal hygiene items: Personal hygiene items are a daily need at Hope Ministries at all three of our shelter and recovery facilities for use by our homeless guests throughout the year.
