We Care Kits

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

WE CARE KIT CLUB is for individuals, families or groups who make a monthly commit to provide a specific number of WE CARE KITS.  Indicate your level of involvement when you complete the online registration form and a member of our staff will be in contact to coordinate delivery details.

The Need:

Hope Ministries sponsors three shelters for the homeless in Des Moines including Bethel Mission – an emergency shelter for homeless men, Door of Faith – a long-term recovery center for homeless men, and Hope Family Center – a long-term recovery center for homeless mothers and their children.  We provide up to 265 year-round shelter beds.  Tending to the needs of our homeless guests requires a considerable supply of personal care (hygiene) items i.e. tooth paste, toothbrush, deodorant, shampoo, disposable razors etc.   The need for these items is year-round and requires substantial resources. 

Definition:

WE CARE KIT is a phrase used by Hope Ministries to describe an individually packaged supply of personal care (hygiene) items contained in one zip lock bag.

Purpose:

WE CARE KITS are used as welcome bags for new homeless guests at our shelters throughout the year providing basic personal care necessities.  Even more, the contents in this bag will introduce a homeless person to our Journey of Hope that offers healing and recovery.  WE CARE KITS provide individuals, families, groups, churches, schools, civic and service clubs and corporations a specific and focused donation drive that will have a direct positive impact on hurting people in our community.

Your participation in donating WE CARE KITS would be highly valued and would represent a direct dollar offset thereby freeing our funds to address other ministry needs.

• The recommended contents listed below will average $5.27 per kit.  (Based on Walmart prices)

• Every Kit should include a WE CARE KIT CARD.

• Each card has space for a personal hand-written note of encouragement.

• Cards can be downloaded and printed from our website at www.hopeiowa.org.

• Cards are also available by calling 265-7272.
