We Care Kits
  
for Hope Ministries' Homeless Residents

Tending to the needs of our homeless guests requires a considerable supply of personal hygiene items: toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, shampoo, disposable razors, etc. These are year-round needs which require substantial resources.

We Care Kits are used as welcome bags for new homeless and displaced guests at our shelters throughout the year. Individuals, families, groups, churches, schools, civic and service clubs, and corporations help us provide these We Care Kits, and thus make a direct positive impact on hurting men, women and children in our community.

In addition to the hygiene supplies, we ask that you also include a We Care Kit card with your kit and include an encouraging note. These cards help personalize the kits and are a blessing to the residents who receive them. While the hygiene items are tangibly beneficial, your words of encouragement and inspiration lift up the spirits of our residents – some even carry the notes with them for months to come. So please do take the time to print off a card write your note and include it with your kit. Please sign only first names – no last names.

If you or your group is interested in collecting items for and/or assembling We Care Kits, please call our staff for details and delivery instructions at (515) 265-7272 or email info@hopeiowa.org.

Special Instructions:

1. We ask that each kit contains one of each item on the lists below.
2. Please do not add items that are not on this list.
3. We request small personal-size containers for deodorant, shaving cream, shampoo, body wash and toothpaste.
4. Remember to enclose a completed We Care Kit card with encouraging words.
5. Please sign with first names only, and do not list your phone number or address.
6. Place all contents in a one gallon-size Ziploc bag. Please do not substitute with other bags.

Please do not include:

• Mouthwash
• Bible (We provide every shelter resident with a Bible.)
• Fingernail clippers or scissors
• Over-the-counter medications (i.e. Aspirin)
  
  If any of the above items are included in your kit, they will be removed by our staff.
