You don't have to go far to find
people who are hurting.

Throughout central Iowa, there are individuals and families wondering where they'll sleep tonight. When they'll eat their next meal. How they'll overcome their desperate circumstances.

They're homeless . . . hungry . . . struggling to survive.

Like David . . .

"I packed a light bag and started walking. It was about two or three in the morning, and I hadn't had much sleep the last couple days."

And Tabatha . . .

"My innocence was taken from me at a young age. So I just rebelled when I was older. I did what I knew would allow me to survive."

The pain in both David and Tabatha's pasts led to addiction. Addiction led to homelessness. Homelessness led them to our doors.

Today, David is part of our long-term life recovery program at our Door of Faith men's recovery center. Tabatha is living at our Hope Center for Women and Children and participating in our program there. Both are receiving meals and shelter, as well as the tools and resources they need to regain their independence. Through faith-based counseling, job skills training and practical classes, they're growing into the individuals they've always longed to be.

"This is a second chance at life for me," David says. "I know the second part of my life is going to be better than the first."

"My entire life I've searched for someone to accept me for who I am," Tabatha says. "They feed us. We live in a nice home. We're treated like human beings. I've never in my life met anybody like the people here."

Throughout the 97 days of summer--from Memorial Day through Labor Day--we'll rely on your financial support to provide food, shelter and life-changing recovery programs for so many like David and Tabatha. Our financial need in June, July and August is around $650,000. This is the goal of our 97-Day Summer Campaign . . . and we need your help to meet it.

Please give where you live today . . . and make a difference in central Iowa!
