03 Sep Thanksgiving Volunteer Registration is Coming Soon!
Can you believe we’re already planning for our special holiday celebrations at Hope Ministries?!
On both Thanksgiving and Christmas, we’ll serve thousands of meals to people in need—both onsite at our Hope Cafe and delivered around the Des Moines are.
This is a huge undertaking and we can’t do it without hundreds of amazing volunteers.
Public registration for Thanksgiving volunteering opens on Monday, Oct. 1.
(If you’re an M25 Volunteer at Hope Ministries, you get the opportunity to sign up early! Watch your email for a special invite and registration link later this month.)
Here’s what we need for Thanksgiving:
- Wed., Nov. 21 – Thanksgiving Food Donation Day: Help receive and sort thousands of Thanksgiving food donations from the community. (8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.)
- Thurs., Nov. 22 – Thanksgiving Day Onsite: Help package and serve meals, plus set-up, decorating, clean-up, etc. (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
- Thurs., Nov 22 – Thanksgiving Day Meal Delivery Driver Team: Deliver meals throughout the Des Moines area to people in need. (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.)*
Important Note: Volunteers must be 13 years old to serve on site. For families with younger children, serving as a meal delivery driver team is a great option!
*To serve as a meal delivery driver team, you’ll need a vehicle large enough to hold 25-40 paper sacks plus your own GPS. We’ll provide all your meal delivery addresses before the holiday so you can create your own route.
Watch our website for registration, beginning Monday, October 1. And make sure to sign up early…these spots fill quickly!
