VOLUNTEER OPENING: Meal Server at Hope Café
October 2, 2026 11:00 am - 12:45 pm
This volunteer experience is a great way to make a direct impact on the lives of hungry people in Central Iowa. You'll help serve a meal at our Hope Cafe, which is connected to Hope Ministries Bethel Mission men's shelter (1310 6th Avenue in Des Moines). At Hope Cafe, we serve both shelter residents as well as community members from the surrounding neighborhoods. We'd love to have you join us for this meaningful volunteer service! Please note: Onsite volunteers must be 13 or older and must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
To reserve your spot, please email Leslie Green at lgreen@hopeiowa.org or call (515) 265-7272. Thanks!

Thanksgiving Volunteer Registration Opens
Thanksgiving Volunteer Registration Opens
October 12, 2026
Registration for one of our most popular volunteer opportunities—Thanksgiving!—opens today. We have openings on both Wednesday, Nov. 25, during our Thanksgiving Food Donation Day and on Thursday, Nov. 26, during our Thanksgiving Meal Outreach. On Wednesday, we'll accept hundreds of food donations from the community and on Thursday, we'll work together to assemble and package thousands of meals to be delivered around Des Moines. Plus, we'll serve a special onsite turkey dinner to community meal guests that day.
