Take a Tour
We’re so excited to be opening up our new Hope Ministries Center for Women and Children for tours beginning in January 2025.
We are offering both daytime and evening tours on the first and third full weeks of each month:
- Evening tours are two Mondays each month from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
- Daytime tours are on two Thursdays each month from 11 a.m. to noon.
Advance reservations are required. Reserve your spot by calling (515) 265-7272 or by filling out the sign-up form.
*These are walking tours. Our facility, located at 3800 E. Douglas Avenue in Des Moines, is fully accessible, including a ramp outside and an elevator and lift inside.

Two Other Ways to See Your Impact
We also offer some impactful opportunities for groups to come onsite to learn and be inspired . . . and to see firsthand the impact they’re making!
- JOURNEY: A Hope Ministries Escape Room Experience: Our escape room experience is perfect for youth groups, church small groups, corporate groups and more! JOURNEY is meant to teach groups about both the root causes and difficult challenges of homelessness, as well as what the journey to life recovery looks like at Hope Ministries. - Make a Bed ~ Keep ‘Em Fed (Door of Faith): Visit our men’s life recovery center, make a bed in one of the dorms and hear an inspiring testimony from one of our residents who is working hard to rebuild his life. We’ll ask you to bring a new pair of twin sheets and a pillowcase, a note of encouragement, and a food donation. Let us know you’re interested by filling out our group volunteer application here.
- Hope Experience (Bethel Mission): A service project and more! We’ll ask your group to bring along materials to assemble either hygiene kits (we call them We Care Kits) or laundry pod packets. While you assemble kits, you’ll hear a testimony from one of our residents. After the activity, we’ll take a tour of the shelter.
