Five Surprising Answers to the question

What does it take to become ex-homeless?

  1. Stability & Peace of Mind

Before someone can address the root causes of their current situation, they need the stability and peace of mind that comes from having their basic needs met in a caring environment. This includes safe shelter, warm meals, hygiene items and other daily essentials.

  2. Personalized GuidanceEvery hurting neighbor’s story is unique, which means every neighbor’s needs are unique. That’s why each individual in our program has their own personalized service plan, complete with goals to help them take their next steps toward stability, sobriety and a clear sense of purpose.
  3. Community

Men, women and families working to rebuild their lives can’t do it alone. In addition to building healthy relationships with staff, volunteers and fellow residents, they need a supportive network outside of Hope Ministries built through church involvement, local recovery groups and/or volunteering.

  4. Trauma-Informed Care Hope Ministries’ own five-year survey of 1,000 men in our life recovery program found that on average, men faced more than four traumatic experiences in their childhood. Trauma-informed care includes access to mental health services and therapy, specially designed spaces that promote choice and empowerment, help identifying “safe people” and more.
  5. Not Just Any HousingIndividuals and families facing homelessness don’t just need a roof over their head tonight . . . they need safe, affordable and sustainable housing. They also need gainful employment and basic life skills that will allow them to stay in their home. That’s why our programs include job readiness training to increase employability, an array of life skills classes, educational opportunities and more.
