Here’s what’s coming up for Empowering Women. If you’ve got questions about any of the upcoming events—or you’d like to RSVP—please reach out to Leslie at lgreen@hopeiowa.org or (515) 265-7272. You’re always welcome to invite your friends to participate in Empowering Women events. Our invitation cards are a wonderful resource to extend the invitation and introduce ladies in your life to opportunities to uplift hurting women and moms with kids in Central Iowa.
FLOURISH: Saturday, October 17 at 10 a.m.
We hope to see you—and your friends!—at FLOURISH on October 17. At the event, we’ll hear from Jennifer Hutchinson, our chief program officer. We will also have a coffee bar, light refreshments and an activity during which you’ll get to personally bless one of our Hope Center residents. Plus, we’ll hear an inspiring testimony from a life recovery program participant.
Finally, we invite you to bring some bling! If you’d like, please bring along a new pair of earrings or other jewelry to help restock our boutique for Hope Center residents.

Coffee & Connection: Monday, November 2 at 9:30
Join us for a casual time to connect and learn more about each other as we bond over our shared hearts to uplift women and moms with kids facing homelessness and hunger. This month we will meet at
Hy-Vee Market Grille (1700 Valley West Drive in Des Moines) from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Thanksgiving Decorating: Friday, November 6 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Help make the Thanksgiving holiday special by joining us to decorate Hope Ministries Center for Women and Children. We will be joined by ladies currently staying at Hope Center and look forward to a fun, festive afternoon.
Christmas Decorating: Friday, December 4 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Christmas is one of the most enchanting seasons of the year and we want to share that joy with the women and kids at our Hope Ministries Center for Women and Children. You can join us, and the ladies in our care, as we decorate Hope Center. To amp up the holiday spirit, we also invite you to bring your favorite treat to share.
Mom’s Shopping Day: Friday, December 11 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
We are excited to share the opportunity with you to help host Mom’s Shopping Day on Friday, December 11. We love to make the holiday season special for the families in our care, and we know how meaningful it is for moms to specially pick out and give personal gifts to their kids on Christmas morning. Mom’s Shopping Day meets this exact need. We are so grateful for our community partners who have donated gifts to make this event possible. As Empowering Women, you are invited to help host the moms in our care as they “shop” and wrap gifts for their children. Light refreshments will be provided, and we encourage you to wear your Empowering Women gear or your most festive attire.

Facebook group
If you’re on Facebook, you can join our Empowering Women group there to stay in touch. It’s a private group, so you’ll need to request to join and our admin will accept you into the group.
