Rescue. Recovery. Restoration.
Every day hurting people in Central Iowa are without safe, stable housing. Many don’t know how they’ll get their next meal. Abuse, addiction, incarceration and other painful circumstances have shattered their confidence and independence. We are here to help.
Our rescue services offer safe shelter, nutritious meals, free clothing and more, and our long-term life recovery programs are meant to break the cycles of homelessness, abuse, addiction, incarceration and chronic poverty. Every day we’re meeting the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of men, women and children!
We provide short-term shelter for homeless men at Bethel Mission (1310 6th Avenue).
Our residential, long-term life recovery programs for men, single women and mothers with children work to break the cycles of homelessness, abuse, addiction, chronic poverty and other struggles.
Our thrift stores offer reasonably priced new and used clothing, furniture and household items at two locations in Des Moines.
In partnership with local agencies, we provide free clothing vouchers to our ENCORE Thrift Stores. Call (515) 265-7272 to find out more.
Every Saturday, our staff and volunteers visit those living on the streets of Downtown Des Moines to distribute basic necessities and to offer encouragement and information about our services.
We work closely with other critical service providers including veterans’ resources, medical services and education providers.
On holidays, we deliver meals to the Des Moines community. Check our holiday page for meal reservation sign-up in the weeks leading up to each holiday.
We connect with current inmates approaching parole to determine if our programs are a good fit and help former inmates during their transition back into society.
